The story of the MIT Blackjack Team first came to public light in the bestselling book, Bringing Down The House, by Ben Mezrich. My former teammates and I were shocked when the book instantly became a New York Times bestseller and shot to #1 on Amazon. Although a fair number of artistic liberties were taken, Bringing Down The House did a fairly good job of depicting what our team pulled off. The book was far from entirely accurate and thorough in its explanation of card counting and advantage play strategies, but it was certainly a very entertaining account of our card counting adventures. Mezrich did capture the excitement of high stakes blackjack and he provided an interesting portrayal of the sometimes adversarial relationship we experienced with casinos and the Griffin Detective Agency.
